Alt-N Technologies announce the simultaneous releases of MDaemon 9.0 and Outlook Connector 2.1. MDaemon is Alt-N's flagship messaging platform for small and mid-sized enterprises. Outlook Connector unlocks the collaborative potential of Microsoft Outlook by using MDaemon, rather than Exchange Server, as the messaging platform.

MDaemon 9.0 includes major improvements to overall performance, groupware functions, mobility services, security and administration. These releases of MDaemon and Outlook Connector are free for license holders with current upgrade protection.

New for MDaemon 9.0.
Performance improvements in MDaemon 9.0 result from expanded support for multi-threading and multiple CPUs. The speed boosts affect the Content Filter, AntiSpam and AntiVirus engines, plus the IMAP server. HTML optimization increases the speed of the WorldClient web mail service.
A free/busy server to help with scheduling meetings is a major groupware addition to MDaemon 9.0. The ability to respond to meeting requests has also been improved with easy options to accept, reject or propose a new time. Also for groupware, a new interface for the Pocket PC provides access to calendar, contact, task, and other shared folders.
MDaemon 9.0 also includes a standards-compliant SyncML server for synchronizing contacts, calendars and tasks with any SyncML-capable device, allowing you to maintain consistent data across multiple devices.
Security enhancements include support for the latest additions to DKIM and Sender ID. New in MDaemon 9.0, Sender ID helps to detect spoofing and phishing by verifying the IP address of each sender against the purported owner of the sending domain. To help with server administration, MDaemon 9.0 supports Active Directory monitoring for account management. By tracking changes in Active Directory, MDaemon can automatically add and change accounts, plus provide options for handling deleted accounts. As an additional administrative improvement, the MDaemon installer now includes the WebAdmin web-based administration tool. WebAdmin continues to be available as a separate download.
MDaemon 9.0 runs on Windows 2000, 2003, and XP. Support for legacy versions of Windows has been discontinued.
Outlook Connector 2.1 Improvements
Outlook Connector 2.1 enhancements include reduced memory requirements, an interface for creating "Out of Office" auto-responder messages, speed increases when moving messages between folders, and setting sharing options for both folders and subfolders.
There are also improvements to language translations, message grouping support, delivery confirmation messages and various enhancements to the user interface.
